Sunday is for baking. My kids love to "help" measure and mix ingredients, often wishing aloud for a taste of batter. One week, we were ready to cream the sugar and butter when the electric mixer broke. In desperation, I tried to use the antique hand mixer I had stuffed in a drawer, but it was too rickety to be of assistance. Unfortunately, we had to postpone our cookie baking for another day, but that old hand mixer inspired visions of a quilt, spinning its primitive beaters.
